Kim Mancini - New Works

~ Brisbane Cityscape ~
43x32cm pen and wash

"Story Bridge - Cityscape "
43x32cms pen and wash

* Pastel Sails in Blue *
acrylic 77x60cms

Pen and wash paintings always fascinate me, in as much as I feel I want to keep looking around the painting, as there is always lots to see and discover throughout the composition.  The top two images are just delightful, small pen and wash paintings highlighting our very picturesque Story Bridge.  The large canvas "Pastel Sails in Blue" is a nice sized canvas with a contemporary feel with the sailing boats on Moreton Bay.

Little Houses with Birds

Val and Phil Willy are Queensland artists and just love to sculpt.  They use the Raku technique for firing.  These delightful little houses have just come into the gallery - they are just so simple and sweet.  The detail on the outside is just delightful and little touches on the roof with the birds etc give the pieces a very whimsical and lighthearted approach.  No two are the same - once again, they are one-of-a-kind.

Tranquil Waters

A special new piece by Bruce Buchanan titled "Dawn - Port Esperance" Tasmania and framed in a beautiful silvery/gold frame.  Quite a nice size of 49cms high x 90cms long.  Bruce recenly won the Best Watercolour of the show in the Rotary Spectacular Art Show (held at the Riverside Centre), once again with a tranquil scene, in which he is so well known for.

" Rainforest Walk"
55x74cms watercolour

Lorraine Rogers has just delivered new watercolours along with one of her "signature" styled acrylic paintings called "Tropical Bliss", which is bright and colourful and full of textured shapes, look closely and you can find butterflies, fish, coral and even frogs!  they are simply fascinating and would look amazing in an entry or above a lounge - down the end of a hallway, anywhere that needs cheering up.  The watercolour collection is just delightful and we always have a large selection of her paintings to choose from.

When Pam Walpole talked about her works on paper she had painted for our gallery, I was looking forward to seeing the final outcome and I wasn't disappointed.    The beautiful, contemplative visual fragments of brushwork to me portray Pam's easy contemporary style - she truly is one of Queensland's leading contemporary artists.   Themed around the water this time - the 4 new works under glass are framed in a simple limewash frame.

Pam Walpole - New Works

Loving the new works on paper by Pam Walpole.  A beautiful bold pair of paintings that can be sold separately, but goodness me they make a wonderful pair together.   Loving the lamps as well from Doug Cartwright and a couple of new little painted boxes by ever popular Karen Atkins.  Gee I wish I could take good photos!  I must practice, practice, practice as everything looks so much nicer in the flesh and I wish I could capture the crispness in my shots - any hints?

Fusion of Colour

~ Pretty in Pink ~
80x67cms

~ Mum's Flowers ~
110x80cms

* Brisbane Morning *
70x120cms acrylic

* Saxy Man *
90x90cms acrylic

A very bright collection of works by Kendall Perkins.  The movement and lyrical qualities of her work are truly wonderful - from the still life paintings to the iconic Brisbane scenes that she is well known for.  Loving "Saxy Man" what a fusion of colour!

Bright Corner

Denise and I have just spent the last couple of days changing the gallery around.  Instead of doing "wintery" scenes we went for colourful and bright - we are in Queensland right?  and I just love this section, it looks like we are ready for Spring ~ so many of my customers are looking for bright and colourful.  This is an exquisite collection, featuring Jeanette Morris, Susan French, Christine Reilly (oh how I love those oils), Kendall (beautiful) and a show stopper with Lorraine Rogers new large piece in lime green.

Howz 'at!

* Last Run *
(pastel)

* Happy Hour*
watercolour

Great to see something a little different from Madelaine Herbert-Miller.  We are used to seeing her beautiful watercolours (like Happy Hour), however, her pastels are simply sublime.  She is confident with colour, what you want from this very established artist.  The Manly Gallery is her exclusive gallery in Brisbane, and Madelaine has been with us for well over 13 years.  "Last Run" is a casual painting featuring beautiful highlights - in the right place it could be a fun painting, yet strong enough to go into a study or a games room or male bedroom.

What's New

A gorgeous etching by Denise Murray called "Bordello" and the new "Ribbon Light" by leadlighting artist Doug Cartwright, each side of the lamp is completely different and so much nicer in situ, my photography skills have a lot to be desired!
Love the small etching by Denise, as this size can be placed in so many areas - including propped up on an easel - love it.
