Just in from recent Rotary Art Spectacular winner Bruce Buchanan - another stunning watercolour from Bruce. Artists statement - 'We camped beside this lagoon at Carisbrooke Station which is between Winton and Boulia. This is my attempt to capture the last light in the sky, the placid reflections of back-lit trees and the solitary windmill. Like all of these station lagoons there was lots of birdlife'.
Bruce Buchanan has again taken out 'Best Watercolour' at the prestigious Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular 2013 for 'Wind and Rain, Willochra' which sold on opening night. Pop into the gallery and have a look at 'Gathering Storm North Stradbroke Island' also by Bruce (below). Many of our other artists are also represented in the show including De Gillett and Helen Beaver (commended). Congratulations to all of the artists represented in the show, it's an honour to even be selected!.
Bruce Buchanan - just in. 'Red Fishing Boat, Skye' 67x100cm. Be quick, this one won't last.
'During a recent trip to Skye, off the west coast of Scotland, I came across this small red fishing boat moored against a massive sea wall. There is something a bit naïve about this painting – maybe it is the toy-like scale of the boat and the truck when seen in this context'.
This is the latest watercolour from award winning artist Bruce Buchanan. 'The Shower Block' is at the historic Betoota Hotel west of Windorah. Although the pub is now closed, it remains a landmark for travellers heading out to Birdsville. From Bruce -'I think the haphazard collection of corrugated iron tanks, the shed and wire fences tells a story about remote places in the Outback - it’s a testimony to do-it-yourself bush plumbing and carpentry'. A beautiful piece at 72x90cm framed with contemporary stained Tasmanian oak. Sale price of $1600. Be quick, Bruce's paintings don't last & this one will be no exception!
